Where the Streets Have No Name

March 27, 2009

Charged with providing dessert for the first BBQ of the grilling season (which should be all year, by the way) at the neighbor’s, I decided on baking a themed cake, my latest interest. I wanted to come up with something that we all had in common.

Well, let’s see. The boys play golf; that excludes the girls. The girls get together for coffee; that excludes the boys. The kids’ ages vary from 9 months old to 8 years old; I’m not yet knowledgeable on children’s stuff — mine’s the 9 month old. Crafting a gas grill complete with flames and meat out of cake and frosting seemed a little out of my reach. After a few more ideas that didn’t quite encompass everybody, I had my Well, Duh Moment: We all live on the same street, genius.

As an eater of said cake, I can say it was moist and delicious.

Next time you can bake a Guinea Pig shaped cake. On the other hand, that’s probably sort of creepy.
